INTERMEDIATE: Mare Island National Historic Landmark

Mare Island became the first United States naval base on the West Coast in 1854. Closed in 1996, it was conveyed to the City of Vallejo in 2002 for reuse and redevelopment. We will hike 5-6 miles through a treasure trove of history including the historic shipyard, officers quarters, hospital base and chapel.  Please bring $5 cash for the private tour of the chapel featuring the largest collection of Tiffany windows (29) in the western US.
