About the event
Starting at the parking lot just outside of the kiosk, we will descend the Canyon trail to the waterfall, which should be nice and full after recent rain, climb back up the Pony Gate Trail, cutting over to the Meadow  and up the Hillside Trail, where we'll stop for lunch at picnic tables with a nice view of Sugarloaf and surrounding hills, then continuing down Hillside through the campground, then a short walk on the road past the kiosk to the cars.  About 5.2 miles, 800 feet elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, sunscreen, sunhat, poles if needed. Leave Berger 9 am. Torrential rain cancels. Light to moderate rain will shorten the hike so we'll just walk down to the waterfalls, spend a bit of time admiring and photographing them, then either go back the same way we came or take the Pony Gate trail for a 2-mile hike with 600 ft elevation gain. Hike leader: Florentia Scott, hikingscott@yahoo.com, (707) 591-1929.
