LONG: Bald Mountain Full Moon Hike
From the Main Parking Lot in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park we’ll head for the Grey Pine Trail for the ascent to our destination, the summit of Bald Mountain. Weather permitting we’ll have views of the Sierra to the east, San Francisco and the Bay to the south and the Sonoma coast to the west.

About the event
This hike is a loop trail of 6.4 miles total with an elevation gain of 1736 ft. From the White Barn Parking Lot in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park we’ll head for the Grey Pine Trail for the ascent to our destination, the summit of Bald Mountain. Weather permitting we’ll have views of the Sierra to the east, San Francisco and the Bay to the south and the Sonoma coast to the west. The sun will set at 7:20 pm and the moon will be full (99%), rising in the southeast at 7 pm. After a snack on Bald Mountain we’ll take the paved fire road down to Lower Bald Mountain Trail and return to the parking lot.
Bring hiking poles, a snack, and a headlamp for the descent. Leave the Berger at 6:00 pm. Hike leaders are Bill Stacy (408-694-7161) and Dave Chalk.
