LONG: Bothe Napa State Park

The parks extended trails have been maintained since our 2022 hike. Route pre hiked 9/24/23. This is an out and back hike to the pioneer homestead in the upper richey canyon with a loop on the return to coyote peak. We follow the redwood trail to the richey canyon trail to the upper richey canyon trail to the Traverso homestead site from the 1880's. Lunch at the homestead marker. Return on the upper richey canyon trail to the spring trail to the south fork trail, to the coyte peak trail and climb coyte peak, the acesnt to the peak is short and steep, some hikers may wish to observe the asent rather than hike it. We finish the hike on the coyte peak to the redwood trail. 8 miles, 1530 ft of elevation. Bring lunch and water. Poles may be helpful on the minor creek crossings and coyte peak.
