About the event

NOTE: THIS IS THE CORRECT HIKE. THE ONE LISTED IN THE OAKMONT NEWS IS INCORRECT.

We're doing it again! The flowers were delightful, but the weather was frightful, so we'll be returning to Mt. Tam to retrace our steps on what is predicted to be a perfect day - sunny with a high of 63 degrees - to enjoy the floral array and beautiful ocean views from the green meadows above Stinson Beach.

Having spent most of my adult life hiking the trails of Marin, I can say that this is one of my favorites. The bright green grassy slopes above Stinson are dotted with a wide assortment of wildflowers as though someone sprayed vibrant colors of paint over them. With all the rain we've had, this will be a great time to hike this loop.

This time, we will begin at the Rock Springs parking lot and pick up the Bootjack trail at the ampitheater. After about a mile, we'll hook up with the Matt Davis trail that will take us to the Coastal trail above Stinson Beach. After hiking the slopes, we'll cut across Ridgecrest and through Laurel Dell to the Cataract trail that will take us back to Rock Springs.

This is considered a moderate hike with only about 1,300 ft elevation and a distance of approximately eight miles. Bring lunch, liquids, and poles if you like.
