About the event

Please note some changes to the route since it was posted on the Oakmont News.....   Dear Hikers, To shake things up, how's about planning on a moonlit hike! We'll meet at Berger at 5PM and it's a short drive to Sugarloaf. The moon will accompany us as soon as it rises (but after we get going on the trail). We'll start at the whitebarn and travel along Meadow Trail before ascending on Gray Pine trail until we reach the top of Bald Mountain. After we stop and gather ourselves at 2729' we'll descend via Bald Mountain Road and then down Lower Bald Mountain Trail. The trip is about 6-and-one-half miles with an elevation gain of 1558 feet. Bring water, something to eat, a good headlamp and walking poles (there's some significant inclines along the way).  The hike  is sometimes slippery due to the mixture of dirt and small pebbles.
