About the event
This is a 10-mile loop-hike with an elevation gain of 2000 feet. We’ll start below the Visitor Center with a scenic jaunt down the Canyon Trail to check the status of the Waterfall which might be at maximum flow. Then we’ll begin a steady climb to the summit of Bald Mountain via the 1916 roadbed that follows Pony-Gate Gulch. From Bald, if the weather cooperates, the towers of the Golden Gate Bridge will be visible. Then we’ll take Gray Pine to the Red Mountain Trail and begin a long descent via the Headwaters, Vista, and Pony Gate trails. Bring water, a snack, and hiking poles. Hike leader is Bill Stacy cell (408) 694-7161.
