About the event
UPDATE: The garden tours have been rescheduled due to the heavy rains. April 8 tour is now April 22 and April 15 tour is now April 29. I've kept your RSVP's but if you can't make it on the rescheduled date, please "un RSVP"
Margaret Spaulding invites the Oakmont Hiking Club for an exclusive tour of her multi acre garden at her residence in Glen Ellen. Many of you know Margaret as a dedicated land conservationist whose beautiful former property at the headwaters of Santa Rosa Creek is now dedicated and preserved public open space included in Hood Regional Park. Margaret is also an avid gardener whose free flowing garden of natives and roses in bloom is a special treat to see. She has an assortment of ornamental perennials and bulbs along with a few fruit trees, mainly irrigated with 20,000 gallons of stored rainwater.
There will be two tours, each a week apart and limited to the first 20 OHC members who must RSVP on the website. Meet at the Berger lot at 9:30 am for a 9:40 am departure to Glen Ellen. Car pool is a must for a total of six vehicles. Parts of the garden are uneven and somewhat steep. Tour is from 10:00 am to noon. Please bring a snack or lunch to enjoy on the property while we chat with Margaret. Bottled sparkling water will be provided.
