About the event

We’ll walk abut 3 miles along the level berms and wide trails of the 500-acre Petaluma Wetlands area, exploring marshes and seasonal ponds along the Petaluma River; easy walking with stops to learn about restoration efforts, plants and wildlife, especially the thousands of beautiful migratory water birds (ducks, geese, herons) that winter here.  Depart Berger 9am (check-in 8:50am); 40 minute drive to trailhead, bring lunch for optional picnic; return to Berger by 1pm.  Binocs would be good to have; loaners available.  Optional poles ; suggest rubber tips ("street feet") for decomposed granite paths.  Please RSVP.  Rain cancels.  Hike Leader:  Carolyn Greene, cgnpark@icloud.com, (805) 443-7289. Directions from Berger:  Take 101 south to Lakeville Highway (116) on the south end of Petaluma.  Go east, toward Sonoma abut 1 mile to right turn onto S. McDowell Blvd.  Go less thn 1/2 mile to right turn onto Cader Lane (just beyond Corporate Center Dr. - watch for small sign for Cader) ; park in lot at end of Cader. Restrooms but no water at trailhead.
