About the event
We’ll walk the vineyard paths of Bartholomew Park - 375-acres of vineyards and gardens, and the site of Count Haraszthy’s residence, considered the birthplace of California’s premium wine industry. With over 160 years of history, the site has seen the rise and fall of its immigrant founder; the creation of the largest winery in America; the Cat Lady’s Castle; stories of wayward women and a hidden lake - all in one place. About 3 miles of easy vineyard walking with some ups and downs. Hike leader is Oakmont resident and award-winning travel writer and author Yvonne Horn ((707) 322-9248, yhorn@sonic.net. Bring water and sun protection. Depart Berger at 9 a.m. Check the OHC website on September 6 in case of changes.
