About the event
Our own Oakmont Creek meanders west to join Santa Rosa Creek, and on to the Laguna de Santa Rosa, (between Santa Rosa and Sebastopol), and from there to the Russian River and Pacific Ocean (at Jenner).
The Laguna de Santa Rosa is Sonoma County's richest area of wildlife habitat, and the most biologically diverse region of Sonoma County, receiving water from a 254-square-mile area.
We will leisurely walk the scenic Laguna Trail - 3.5 miles round-trip, along a mostly paved, wide and level trail. The trail passes through grasslands dotted with oaks and eucalyptus with  distant views of Mount Saint Helena and adjacent vineyards. The trail also loops around Kelly Pond, which offers an overlook for great bird-watching..  Bring water, a snack and shade protection, wear good walking shoes; poles optional. There are primitive rest rooms only. Rain cancels.
Depart Berger 9am. Hike Leader: Carolyn Greene, 805 443-7289
Trailhead: Take Highway 12 west; about 1/4 mile west of Llano Rd signal, and just before the Chevron station on your right, look for Laguna de Santa Rosa sign and turn right/north into dirt parking lot. Watch for fast traffic from both directions.Â
