SHORT: Sonoma Developmental Center (SDC) North, East, South, West

Explore this approximately 900 acre State property near Glen Ellen whose future use and development may well be decided soon.  Walking distance of about 3 leisurely miles over mostly level paved sidewalks and roads (closed to cars).  We’ll learn about history, horticulture and possible future uses of this community treasure.  Bring a snack or lunch to enjoy together after the walk.  Walking is all on pavement so wear cushy shoes.  Rain is possible; check website Weds eve for an update; we may go even in a light drizzle.  Leave Berger at 9 a.m.  There are NO bathrooms or drinking water at SDC.  Be prepared.

Directions to SDC Meeting Place (9:20am):  take Highway 12 south/east; right on Arnold Drive through Glen Ellen and into SDC; at flashing red stop, turn right on Harney and park on street where Harney dead ends, in front of large red brick building.  Hike leader is Carolyn Greene, (805) 443-7289.
