Tri Night Short: Devil’s Slide Trail

If you dare . . . walk the previously white-knuckle-driving stretch of Hwy1.  But now you have time to safely see & hear about the offshore San Pedro Rock with its amazingly angled rock strata and the storied Devil’s Cheese Grater. Along the bluff trail, we see examples of the San Andreas Fault’s Franciscan Mélange geology and highlight the native plants, birds and other wildlife along this awe-inspiring shore. 3.2 mi out and back, 310 ft gain.  Restrooms at the parking lot and lunch benches.

Directions:  (N. B., there is no left turn from Hwy1 to N Devil’s Slide Lot, so U-turn is needed.)

Head N on Hwy1 12  mi, go thru the tunnel and continue 2 mi to Linda Mar Blvd.  Turn right and do an immediate U-turn in the boulevard opening.  Turn left back onto Hwy1 and go 2 mi and turn right into the parking lot just before the tunnel. Departs from HMBL at 9:30 AM.    3.2 Miles, 310 Feet
