About the event
4/25 Monday
Arrive and check in to the Lodge. You will be receiving an email from the Lodge a day prior to your arrival with a link to check in on-line. I highly recommend you check in online this as it will save lot of time when you arrive. All you will need to do is give them your name at the front desk and they will give you your keys.
BYOB Happy hour from 5:00 to 6:00 pm followed by dinner on your own. Bring your own drinks, appetizers or snacks. Happy hour is located at the outdoor amphitheater on the hotel property.
I’ll provide a list of suggested restaurants on a later email. Highly recommend you make reservations. Not all of the rooms have refrigerators so I suggest you bring a cooler or ice chest. The amphitheater has wood bench seats, so plan accordingly if you want to sit on a blanket, etc. We have a Ukulele and Fiddle player for Happy Hour entertainment. Any other musicians are welcome!

Group dinner at the Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill. We all need to arrive by 4:30 pm in order to get in line together. The restaurant does not take reservations and in order for us to be seated together on the patio, we will need to be first in line. Carpool to the restaurant and get in line with the people you will be sharing a table with. Tables will be seated one a a time on the heated and covered patio. Order off the menu and they will accommodate separate checks. Check the Group Dinner posted on the OHC website, it’s listed under upcoming hikes. There you will find a link to a google spreadsheet with a list of who is attending as well as a page with 20 tables of four. You can fill in the names of the people you want to sit and carpool with.
4/28 Thursday
Departure.
Hearst Castle
Hopefully the castle will reopen prior to our arrival. You will need to go online and buy a ticket as soon as you can when they announce the opening. If you choose to, you can go on the day you arrive or on Tuesday afternoon/evening. It may mean missing the happy hour. You can also go on Thursday as there is nothing planned for that day.
Helpful Tips
Bring your name tags. If you don’t have one, we will provide paper name tags.
Gas up in Paso Robles. Paso Robles is about 28 miles from Cambria, on Hwy 101 where you exit to take Hwy 46 to Cambria. Gas is 50 cents a gallon cheaper in Paso Robles than in Cambria.
Bring a towel or blanket if you don’t want to sit directly on the wood bench seats at the amphitheater.
Not all rooms have refrigerators so bring a cooler or ice chest. If you require a refrigerator for medication and your room comes without one, the hotel has a limited supply of portable fridges that they can bring to your room.
We will be sending another email out soon with the list of suggested restaurants and other things you may want to do. There are a ton of wineries that you will pass on highway 46 from Paso Robles to Cambria. Let me know if you have any questions.
