Intermediate Hikers

Disappointed that today’s hike was cancelled due to forecast rain, and never ones to be deterred by the possibility of getting drenched, Donna McCulloch and I decided to do the hike anyway. Starting from SDC around 10:30, we went up Orchard Road, took the woodland path around Fern Lake up past the Ancient Redwood and back onto Orchard Road. The sun came out shortly after we left the car and stayed sunny until we entered the Redwoods past the lake. We did get rained on some but the skies cleared once we were back on Orchard Road. The rain very considerately held off until we were back in the car. Pleasant 4.5 mile, 738 ft elevation loop, mostly on pavement. Of course we missed Gary’s knowledgeable explanation of SDC history, and the company of other intermediates, but look forward to doing it again with the group whenever it is rescheduled.
