7/7/22 Long Hike to Henry's Knob
Thanks to all who attended today's long hike right here in our own back yard. How nice it is to live so close to all the great parks and hiking trails.

Great views of Bennett Valley and Santa Rosa from the top of "Henry's" knob, named after long time Oakmont Hiker Henry Szostak. Henry knew all the legal and illegal trails of Annadel by heart. He could describe how to get to any park location without ever consulting a map. Randy Vincent became his unofficial protege’. Henry passed around 14 years ago and after that time the Oakmont Hikers started called that spot Henry’s Knob as it was a special place to him. There is a memorial picnic table to him on the Ridge Trail that was donated to the park by the OHC.

We're told that at one time there was an old Buick in this Meadow, hence the name.

1955 Buick Century driven by Sargent Dan Mathews who crashed in Buick Meadows after too many beers.

Damn, those were good Brownies! Thank you Bonnie.
A long time ago, really long, most of you were in your 30's I was invited to a hike with Henry for a "women only" hike. Many of us were enthralled, to learn all the trails Henry knew in Annadel. Little did we know the trails were left behind and we found ourselves "bush wacking" down the hills, Henry's way of getting around. !!! Many of us ended up on Channel drive and said we are NOT going bushwacking with Henry again.!
