Long Hikers Swap Car Keys
3/14/24 the long hikers split into two groups with one group driving to and starting from Jack London and the other (my group) driving to and starting from Sonoma Mountain Regional Park. My group was led by Dave Chalk and the other by Jeff Zalles. Each group hiked to the other groups starting point and we met at a half way point (Bill's Hill named after Bill Meyers) and swaped car keys. How fun was that!

I'm sad to say that I totally missed Dave Chalk demonstrating the proper technique of tucking and rolling down hill and I didn't get it on video. While clearing a limb from the trail, he lost his footing, fell and rolled down the grass hillside. None the worse for wear, Dave just stood up like nothing happened, walked back up the hill and continued hiking. No wonder he is such an inspiration!
I was up close when Dave did his tuck and roll. I held my breath until I saw him stand and make his way back up the hill. What a guy.
