Who says you have to drive/hike far for fun? After a parking scramble (note: starting from top of Oak Mesa on Thursday trash day and with landscapers & mail trucks parking there as well - not a good idea), 16 of us headed out towards Ledson Marsh. We were graced with OVA Bd Member Jeff Neuman, who provided lots of macro and micro geology info, enjoyed by all! Naturalist Carolyn described the different native oaks, and we'll all remember Oregon Oak now, with it's round/"O"- shaped leaf lobes. Interesting fire ecology/recovery/effects from the 2017 Nun's Fire. The group stopped at Marsh junction (pictured in front of this important trailside "building" - the outhouse!); some continued on toward Lawndale; the rest headed back, easily making our 11:20am return time deadline. Yvonne Horn described her latest (and she says last!) book. We loved welcoming newcomers Clyde, Doug, Cathy V, Beverly, Margie and Julie.
