LONG: Kortum Trail to Red Mountain

From the parking lot at Wright's Beach, we hike the Kortum Trail to Shell Beach, (toilets), before heading up towards Red Hill. Shortly after a stout uphill section we hike through a magnificent Redwood grove, later breaking out into open country, where we take a clockwise loop around Red Hill.  Wonderfull views towards the mouth of the Russian River, and then of the ocean as we descend. About 9 miles with some 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Bring layers, lunch, water and, if you prefer, hiking poles. The trail may be muddy in spots. Hike Leader Chris Jones 707 291 5461.
