Hike Categories

Short Hikes are 2 to 4 miles in length with minimum elevation gain on good surfaces at an easy pace. Short hikes leave Berger at 9:00 AM on the first Thursday of each month.

Intermediate Hikes are 4 to 7 miles in length, up to 1000’ elevation gain on a variety of trails and surfaces. Intermediate hikes leave Berger 9:00 AM on the second, third, fourth and fifth Thursdays of each month.

​

Long Hikes are 6 to 11 miles in length with up to 2000’ plus elevation gain on all types of trails and surfaces. The hikes normally are divided into faster and slower paced groups. Long hikes leave at 8:30 AM on the first, third and fourth Thursday of each month.

All club events are advertised in the Oakmont News and on the schedule page of this website.  Reservations for weekly hikes are not required–just show up at the Berger Center at the designated date and time.  Note:  At times, weather or other circumstances force last minute changes in hikes and sometimes cancellations.  See the *Important Notice on the Scheduled Hikes webpage.

Hikes usually require driving to a destination from the Berger, car pooling is common at the discretion of drivers, a $5 donation from passengers is customary for events that are further away.
